Charcoal Self Portrait – 2021
The task was to recreate an art piece made during week one of class. The end goal was to compare both art pieces to see how far I’ve come and how much my skills have improved. This portrait was made using various amounts of charcoal.
Colored Pencil – 2021
This was created in the ladder half of the course. We were to create a colored pencil drawing. Our subject matter could be anything we’d like. I took a reference photo of one of my LEGO figures against a minimalistic background. I started with outlines, applying shadows as I went. To make the drawing sit in a 3D space, I added a background with a horizon line.
Charcoal Side Portrait – 2021
The assignment was to create a side view portrait. Since my family was quite busy, a side-on photo of myself as the reference. I began with outlining my the contours of my head. Charcoal was then lightly rubbed across the bristol paper. Various weights of charcoal were used to create shadowing and depth. I fine tipped eraser would be used to take away charcoal to create contrasts in lighting.
